1. John W. Luty,1 born 23 June 1922 in New London, New London County, Connecticut, the son of Joseph Luty and Antonina Bzyrcki;1 died 30 July 2010 in Niantic, New London County, Connecticut.1 John married Mary E. Seaberg (born 3 April 1926 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, the daughter of Louis Seaberg and Gladys Carlton;2 Mary died 16 January 2017 in Groton, New London County, Connecticut2). John and Mary are buried in Comstock Cemetery, Montville, New London County, Connecticut.1, 2

John served in the U.S. Navy in World War II aboard two destroyers. He survived the sinking of the USS Chevalier in the South Pacific. He earned a total of 11 battle stars for participation in the Asiatic Pacific and Campaign and the Philippine Liberation. In 1964, John became the first full time police officer in Montville, and he retired in 1986. He was a member of several organizations, including the New London County Fire Chiefs Association and the New London County Detectives Association. He was voted Citizen of the Year as a lifetime member of the Montville Veterans of Foreign Wars.1

Russell James Luty2 (John1), born 10 April 1949 in New London, New London County, Connecticut;1 died 3 May 2004 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut.1 Russell married, first, 22 April 1977 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, Penny Louise Tefft3 (born 15 November 1955, the daughter of James Elmer ‘Jim’ Tefft and Marion Arlene Lee2). Their marriage ended in divorce in 1989 in New London, New London County, Connecticut.4 Russell married, second, 20 April 2004 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, Sukdai Molly Ali5 (born 23 November 1952, parents not determined2).

Russell served honorably in the U. S. Army. He was a 911 emergency dispatcher for the Town of Montville, and a life member of the Monville Fire Company. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating. Water sports were his passion and he spent a lot of time on the Thames River.1
