Family HistoryFamily History - Ella Marie Quick

Key:1.“+” before a child’s name indicates the child has their own entry in the next generation.
2.“born xxxx” indicates the child is under 18 years of age so the birth date is not shown.
This family history features Ella Marie Quick and 21 of her descendants down to the fourth generation.

First Generation
1. Ella Marie Quick,1 born March 1865 in New York (parents not determined);1, 2, 3, 4, 5 died 2 September 1921 in Liebhardt, Town of Rochester, Ulster County, New York.6 Ella married, first, 27 January 1900 in Accord, Town of Rochester, Ulster County, New York, Josephus Latimer13 (born July 1849 in Ulster County, New York, the son of Lewis B. Latimer and Catharine Smith1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12). Ella married, second, 7 December 1903 in Town of Rochester, Ulster County, New York, Ephriam Cornelius Krom15 (born 7 April 1874 in New York, parents not determined2, 3, 4, 14).

Josephus being listed in the 1850 census at one year old indicates that he was born before 1850, probably in 1849. Two other census records (1855 and 1860) support his birth in or before 1850. His birth as shown in the 1900 census, July 1851, is apparently off by a year or two. No death record has been found for Josephus, but his wife remarried by 1905, suggesting he died between 1900 and 1905.

Child adopted by Ella Marie Quick and Josephus Latimer:

2i. Gussie B. Latimer, born January 1900 in New York.1
+3ii. Peter Jacob Latimore, born 2 February 1901 in Accord, Town of Rochester, Ulster County, New York; died 19 September 1942 in Kingston, Ulster County, New York. Married Cornelia Lemunyan.
4iii. Jason Latimer, born ca. 1903 in New York;2, 3, 4, 5 died 14 January 1923 in Town of Wawarsing, Ulster County, New York.16 Several articles in the Kingston Daily Freeman, one quoted below from 18 May 1922, describe Jason’s incarceration for assault:17 LATIMORE CONFINED IN NAPANOCH INSTITUTION Undersheriff Tunis Haulenbeck and Deputy Sheriff Anderson Ellsworth took Jason Latimore Wednesday afternoon to the Institution for Mental Defectives at Napanoch from the Ulster county jail. Latimore was indicted for criminal assault on a young woman at Leibhardt and on his plea of guilty several days ago was committed to the Reformatory, he not being mentally strong. Based on the date and place of his death, it seems likely that he died while incarcerated.
