Hulda married, second, Gardiner James7 (born 1806 in Rhode Island, parents not determined;2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 12 Gardiner died 187112). Hulda is buried in Card Farm Cemetery, Lebanon, Madison County, New York.1 William is buried in Earlville Cemetery, Earlville, Madison County, New York.10 Gardiner is buried in Card Farm Cemetery, Lebanon, Madison County, New York.12

Hulda, who became the wife of Gardner James, [spent] the most of her life in Smyrna, and where she died at an advanced age in the early seventies.8

  7. Gazlay, Lee, Ancestors of Stephen Tefft, Late of Jewett City, Connecticut. August 5, 2020, Mystic, Connecticut. This paper presents research on Stephen Tefft, who lived in Rhode Island and Connecticut, eventually settling in Jewett City, Griswold, Connecticut. The research indicates that Stephen was a son of Ezekiel Tefft and his wife Amie (or Amy) Wilcox. The inscription on his gravestone correctly indicates: Son of Nathan and Susannah Brand. The reason he was buried in New York is uncertain, but is likely because his wife Hulda (nee Tefft) moved to New York with their son William V. Brand [Jr.?] shortly after the elder William’s death.
