Biography
Martha was born in Raleigh, a daughter of Governor Daniel Gould Fowle. She was educated at St. Marys School in Raleigh. She married David Bell Ayers in 1882, and several years after his death, Martha married John Walter Myatt. She lived in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1906 to 1932 when she returned to Raleigh. Martha died in Raleigh at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles T. Senay. She was also survived by two grandchildren and other relatives.4

- U.S. Federal Census, 1900, North Carolina, Johnston County, Cleveland Township, Enumeration District 54, Sheet 4A, family of John W. and Martha Myatt. The family composition strongly supports this being John Walter Myatt, his second wife Martha [nee Fowle] and four children from his first marriage. However, his name appears here as Jos W. Myatt and his birth date as May 1861, significantly different from his known birth date, 23 November 1847. No explanation has been found for the discrepancy.
