Martha was born in Raleigh, a daughter of Governor Daniel Gould Fowle. She was educated at St. Marys School in Raleigh. She married David Bell Ayers in 1882, and several years after his death, Martha married John Walter Myatt. She lived in Atlanta, Georgia, from 1906 to 1932 when she returned to Raleigh. Martha died in Raleigh at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles T. Senay. She was also survived by two grandchildren and other relatives.4
