Biography

Gurdon was a crewmember on several whaling ships, often as second mate. His service included: Ship Columbus (1843); Ship Georgia (1846); Bark North America (1849); Ship New England (1851); Ship Florida (1856 and 1859); and Schooner Somerset (1864).4
