Mrs. Harriet F. Root.

On Saturday last, in Dubuque, Iowa, Mrs. Harriet F. Root passed away. Mrs. Root was a daughter of Rev. Charles E. Furman and had attained the age of forth-eight years. Born in Clarkson, this county; she married Mr. Samuel Root of New York, and since then has resided in the west. Some weeks ago her relatives here were telegraphed of her illness from remittent fever and Mrs. Martin Briggs of this city hastened thither, but all that loving hands could do would not suffice. She was ever a consistent Christian, and her last words were, “God bless you all.” In accordance with the wish of her father, her body was brought here for interment. Besides the bereaved husband, sisters survive her as follows: Mrs. E. F. French of Lancaster, N. Y., and Mrs. Martin Briggs. Messrs. Charles E. Furman and R. H. Furman of this city are brothers of the deceased. The funeral, which is private, will take place at 2 p. m. today from the residence of Mrs. Martin Briggs, 181 State street.
