Donald was a 1909 graduate of Columbia University, earning an Engineer of Mines degree.6

Donald traveled overseas several times, as indicted by both his passport, applied for and issued in November 1921 when he lived in Tyrone, New Mexico, and several entries in New York passenger lists, traveling to Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Guyana, and possibly other places. He was accompanied on at least one occasion by his mother Huldah and sister Clara.1, 2
