2. Emma Jean Ryan2 (Emma1), born ca. 1915 in Washington.1, 2 Emma married, 10 August 1940, Robert McBride Hodge3 (born ca. 1915 in California, the son of W. L. Hodge and Virginia McBride3).

Emma is named as the child of Charles A. Ryan on his World War I registration card. It is believed that her mother is Charles’ first wife Emma, who died the same year that Emma Jean was born. This would account for why Emma Jean was apparently raised by her uncle Lewis and his wife Mildred.1, 2, 4
