Certificate also gives the names of his parents and their states of birth. His middle name, shown here as Gazlay, is probably incorrect; his wife’s maiden name was Gazlay so it is unlikely his middle name was also Gazlay.

Gazley Hamilton of Louisville, and that he was a native of New Orleans and was fifty years of age [he was actually about 59 based on other records]. The article also indicates he was a retired business man and left a wife.
