2i. Josephine Myrtle Gazley (born Frohne), born 25 March 1923 in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas;28, 29, 30, 31 died 11 February 2007.29 Jo’s obituary indicates she was “later adopted by her arithmetic teacher, Winnie Gazley,” but the circumstances for her adoption are not known. She is shown with her birth parents in the 1930 US Census, and with her mother in the 1940 US Census, her father having died in 1936. Her mother died in 1946. If Jo was adopted before she became an adult, it may have been because her mother wasn’t able to continue raising her. It would have been unusual for Jo to have been adopted as an adult.29 Josephine is buried in Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Galveston County, Texas.29
