1. Mary Ellen Gazlay,1 born 6 April 1855 in Willink, Erie County, New York, the daughter of John Gazlay and Phebe Haight;1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 died 18 March 1918 in East Aurora, Erie County, New York.11 Mary married, ca. 1903, Leonard N. Hatch8, 18 (born May 1859 in New York, parents not determined;7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 Leonard died 24 November 1936 in East Aurora, Erie County, New York12, 17). Mary is buried in North Collins Quaker Meeting House Cemetery, North Collins, Erie County, New York.19 Leonard is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, East Aurora, Erie County, New York.12

Mary was described as the “salt of the earth.” It is said [in family documents] that she married late in life, but her husband’s name is not known. [Her husband has since been identified as Leonard N. Hatch.]10
