First Generation
1. Emory F. Howe,1 born 24 January 1907 (parents not determined);1 died 15 July 1978 in Manitoba Province, Canada.1 Emory married, 27 March 1932, Margaret Lincoln Gazlay2 (born 16 May 1910 in Hamilton, Madison County, New York, the daughter of Arthur Jay Gazlay and Inez E. Lincoln;2 Margaret died 15 July 1978 in Manitoba Province, Canada1). Emory and Margaret are buried in Green Acres Memorial Park, Scottsdale, Maricopa County, Arizona.1

Margaret L. was born May 16, 1910, at 33 Maple Ave., Hamilton, N. Y. She has blue eyes, light hair, dimple in the chin, resembles her mother, but like her father, is a good student. In 1932 she graduated with an A. B. degree from New York State College for Teachers. In 1932 she married Emory Howe, a graduate of Colgate University, and they have one child, Lincoln Bennett Howe, named for his grandmothers. Emory entered the employment of Continental Music Co. in Chicago in 1939, later entering the electronic sales field. They have resided in Chicago or vicinity since then.2, 3


+2i. Lincoln Bennett ‘Link’ Howe, born 24 March 1933 in Nyack, Rockland County, New York; died 24 August 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Married Kathleen Mary ‘Kathy’ Oxler.

Howe and Margaret Howe, both died 15 July 1978 in Manitoba in an automobile accident; Emory was born: 24 January 1907; Margaret Howe was born: 1910 [from record, which provides their joint obituary, from the Arizona Republic, July 20, 1978, transcribed by Rhonda Holton].

Gazlay collected, but never lived to edit. Her material has just been copied and explains the more extensive material on generation V and VI. Other information has been added which I found from numerous sources.” Unpublished, 29 pages. Several differences in dates have been found between this document and others, especially A Genealogy of the Leavenworth Family; the latter is considered the more accurate source.
  3. Madison County, NY (website); Burials in the Madison Street Cemetery; Gazlay, Inez E. (Lincoln); died 22 August 1921, age 42; 1879-1921. The record indicates she was the wife of Arthur J. Gazlay.

2. Lincoln Bennett ‘Link’ Howe2 (Emory1), born 24 March 1933 in Nyack, Rockland County, New York;1, 2 died 24 August 2004 in Honolulu, Hawaii.1 Link married, 27 July 1968 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, Kathleen Mary ‘Kathy’ Oxler4 (born 25 December 1942, parents not determined3).
