Celia Olivia Gazlay,1 born 30 October 1844 in South Edmeston, Otsego County, New York, the daughter of Ralph Leavenworth Gazlay and Harriet Elizabeth Hart;1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 died 28 October 1892 in New York, New York.7, 9 Celia married, 1 May 1877 in Utica, Oneida County, New York, Joshua W. Chase7, 11 (born 16 February 1817 in New York, parents not determined;5, 10 Joshua died 25 January 188610). Celia and Joshua are buried in Bridgewater Universalist Cemetery, Bridgewater, Oneida County, New York.10, 7, 9

Celia and Joshua lived in Bridgewater and Morris, New York. Judah Gazlay wrote that his sister Celia, “taught school, was a fine reader and impersonator, traveled in this and other states.” Celia died of an operation in New York City, age 48, and was buried in Morris [New York].7

Several differences in dates have been found between this document and others, especially A Genealogy of the Leavenworth Family; the latter is considered the more accurate source.
