Thirty-five pages of the application for pension by his wife, Catherine Burger (also named as Catherine Quick), living in Kerhonkson, New York. Various documents and affidavits provide vital details, including his death, and marriage dates and places, and names and birth dates for five of his children, minors at the time of the application. Several documents address the birth year for the youngest child, Pernoley, originally stated as 1859, but asserted as 1860 by the physician who delivered her. However, she is clearly shown in the 1860 census as age 8/12 [months], so she must have actually been born in 1859.

Cornelius and Catherine are buried in Pine Bush Cemetery, Kerhonkson, Ulster County, New York.10, 14

After her first husband died, Catherine married Benjamin Burger, with whom she had no children. Both Catherine and Benjamin were referred to as grandparents by the Bush grandchildren. They lived on the lower Cherrytown Road. Benjamin kept a store in Pataukunk.10
