  1. Find a Grave (website). Fort Meigs Cemetery, Perrysburg, Wood County, Ohio; Ellen Tefft, born: 1854 in Wood County, Ohio; died: August 1861 in Wood County, Ohio (from record, which includes a note that she died at age 7 of typhoid; and provides the names and links for her father and sibling). [This person may be misidentified. Ellen/Ella, daughter of Loren Palmer Tefft and Phoebe Ann Adams (born Sprague), lived to adulthood, married, and had children. Loren and Phoebe had a child who died in infancy, and a daughter Florence G. who died young. We think this grave is actually for this latter child.]
  2. U.S. Federal Census, 1860, Ohio, Wood County, Perrysburg, Page 133, Loren P. Tift, 31, New York, miller; Phebe A. Tift, 24, New York; Ellen Tift, 6, Ohio. Living next door are Loren’s parents: Ezekiel Tift, 61, Rhode Island, miller; Mercy Tift, 58, Rhode Island; Nathan Tift, 21, Ohio; Mercy Tift, 7, Ohio [Nathan is Ezekiel’s son, but the identity of Marcy is uncertain. She is likely Ezekiel’s granddaughter, and the son of Gardner Tefft, although Gardner’s daughter Marcy is enumerated with Gardner and the rest of his family in another 1860 census entry. Marcy may have been visiting Ezekiel when this census entry was made.]

Page 625-26, biographical sketch of Hiram Cunning, who married Ella Tefft, daughter of L. P. and Phoebe Ann (Adams) Tefft. The sketch provides vital and biographical details and the names of Hiram’s parents (Hiram and Keziah (Raymond) Cunning), Hiram and Ella’s children (Oreanna, Hiram T., Flavilla, and Irene Myrtle), Phoebe’s three siblings (an infant child, Florence G., and Lorin P.).
