First Generation
1. Harry Allen Strickland,1 born 15 August 1893 in East Hartford, Hartford County, Connecticut, the son of Moses Allen Strickland and Victoria E. Hespe;1, 2, 3 died 21 November 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts.3 Harry is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London, New London County, Connecticut.3

Harry was nine years old when his mother died, after which time Harry lived with his paternal Aunt Lizzie, Elizabeth (Strickland) Beebe, then a widow with one child of her own.4, 5

He worked in his early years as a salesman in a clothing store in New London, Connecticut.1, 4

Harry began his working life in 1918 at Electric Boat Co., Groton, Connecticut, and worked there as an accountant for 32 years until a few weeks before his death. He was a member and trustee of the New London lodge of Elks. Harry was never married and had no children.3
