One source indicates that “Nathan...followed a sea-faring life and was a mate on a privateer in the war of 1812, the last ever heard of him when he sailed for the British coast in 1815.”2

This paper presents research on Stephen Tefft, who lived in Rhode Island and Connecticut, eventually settling in Jewett City, Griswold, Connecticut. The research indicates that Stephen was a son of Ezekiel Tefft and his wife Amie (or Amy) Wilcox.
