Stanley arrived at Ellis Island on 3 April 1909, sailing on the S.S. Badenia from Hamburg. His destination was Scranton, Pennsylvania, to join his brother Kostak.4
By 1912, Stanley was living at 13 River Road, Schenectady, New York, when Alex Krupowski joined him upon Alex’s immigrated to the U.S. Alex is listed as his “brother” but the relationship is doubtful since their respective passenger list entries show different fathers. However, they are believed to be related in some way; they were apparently born in the same town in Polish Russia. Stanley lived at the same Schenectady residence when he registered for the draft for World War I in 1917, and the 1920 U.S. Census also shows him at the same address in Schenectady.1, 2, 7
Stanley’s obituary provides additional insight into his life (his birth date in the obituary is believed to be in error).5

Mr. Krupowski was born in Poland June 1, 1888, coming to this country when about 24 years old. Since then his home has been in Amsterdam and Schenectady. He served in the World war, and was gassed. Since that time he has been unable to do any active work. He was a member of John J. Wysomirski post, 701, American Legion.
