Biography
Roy served in the Coast Artillery Corps, Fifth Company as a corporal during World War I, and as a private first class in Company E, 118th Quartermaster Corps of the National Guard during World War II. He belonged to the John Coleman Prince post, American Legion, in New London, Connecticut. Roy was a member of the Huntington Street Baptist Church, also in New London. He was a truck driver for Pequot Coal Company, and previously employed at the Fort Trumbull branch of the University of Connecticut in the maintenance department.3
His World War II draft registration card dated 27 April 1942 indicates that he was in the U. S. Coast Guard at the Custom House, Bank Street, New London, Connecticut.5
