Biography

Frances’ obituary provides brief biographical details:6

Frances Helen Hall, wife of Jonas S. Heartt, of the firm of Jonas S. Heartt & Co, carwheel manufacturers, died last evening at the family residence, No. 169 Second street. The deceased had been in ill health the last three or four years. Mrs. Heartt was the eldest daughter of the late M. C. Hall, a prominent resident of Bennington, a granddaughter of ex-Gov. Hiland Hall of Vermont, who died recently, and a niece of Trenor W. Park of Bennington. Mrs. Heartt was about forty-two years old, and her early education was received at a Philadelphia seminary. Eighteen years ago she was married at Bennington to Mr. Heartt, and coming to Troy had since resided here. She is survived by her husband, a son and a daughter, a brother, Samuel B. Hall, cashier of the First national bank of North Bennington, and a sister, Miss Sophia Hall, also of North Bennington. Mrs. Heartt was a member of St. John’s church of this city and was highly esteemed. She had a remarkably sympathetic nature, that was manifested whenever an opportunity for assisting the unfortunate was presented.6
