Death of Miss A. M. Gazlay
A Life Long Resident of Cortland Passed Away at the Home
Miss Achsa M. Gazlay, who has been a resident of the Home for Aged Women since last May, died at the home at 7 o’clock this morning, aged 75 years. She was a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Gazlay, late of Cortland. Since coming to the Home she has been in frail health, though until quite recently, able to be about and occasionally to visit Cortland friends. A rather sudden weakening of the heart was the immediate cause of her death. A nephew survives her.
Miss Gazlay had been since 1867 a member of the First Presbyterian church of Cortland, from which she has received much thoughtful consideration. She was one of the organizers and was president till her death of the Cortland County Home Department union of the Sunday-school, and was the superintendent of the Home department of her own church from its beginning till the day of her death. Her pastor, the Rev. Carl W. Scovel, will conduct the funeral services, at the Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock.
