Burton was the son of Peter Olendorf and his wife Marion, born five months after Peter died unexpectedly. Burton is shown as Burton Olendorf in the 1920 U.S. Federal Census with his mother Marion and her second husband Harvey Page. Although not proven, it is believed that Harvey adopted Burton sometime later, and Burton was known thereafter as Burton Page.
