Mr. Gazely confronted Adelaide and Mr. George Boden and privately agreed to a payment of $600 from Mr. Boden as hush money to preserve his reputation. Ultimately the court dismissed the divorce suit for lack of evidence, and granted custody of their child to Mrs. Gazely. Apparently some time later, the couple did actually divorce, although the date is not known. Adelaide later married George Boden.
