Mary graduated in 1950 from Fitch High School in Groton. She enjoyed country music, Elvis, and NASCAR racing.3

Joe served in the U. S. Marine Corps in Korea immediately after his marriage to Mary. He worked as a carpenter at the University of Connecticut for over 33 years when he and his family lived in Coventry, Connecticut. They moved to Gulfport, Florida, in 1979. Joe was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, American Legion Post 125, and the Sons of Italy, all in Florida. He was also a member of the Coventry Volunteer Fire Association when he lived in Connecticut.3, 8

Mary Jo lived in Coventry, Connecticut, until 1979 when she moved with her parents and siblings to Florida. She was a member of the Gulfport Church of the Nazarene, and a former member of the American Legion Post 125 Auxiliary.6
