George was educated at the New Berlin Academy, and he graduated from Eastman Business College, Poughkeepsie, New York. George studied law for two years in the office of Judge H. H. Harrington. He worked in the mercantile business for 20 years, and in general insurance for 20 years. He was a manager of the New Berlin Light and Power Company for 25 years. George served as treasury Supervisor of the town of New Berlin for 11 years, chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Chenango County for two years, and a justice of the peace for four years. George was a Republican and a Mason.6, 13
