Virginia Elizabeth Gazlay,¹ born 19 October 1912 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, the daughter of William Soaper Gazlay and Virginia Elizabeth Miller;^{1, 2} died 25 April 2006 in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware.³ Virginia married, 21 April 1939 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, Seely McCann Chapman² (born 13 May 1906, parents not determined;⁴ Seely died April 1975⁴).

Virginia attended the Francis Parker School in Chicago and Groucher College in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a member of Theta Sorority, Trinity Episcopal Church and its Altar Guild, the Junior league of Wilmington and the National Society of Colonial Dames in America. She was a volunteer and later a professional guide at the Winterthur Museum for 30 years. She established a dancing class at the Tatnall School.³
