First Generation

1. Archie Dorr Wolcott,¹ born 15 March 1875 in Streetsboro, Portage County, Ohio, the son of Newel Wolcott and Helen Mar Gustin;¹ died 24 October 1954 in Auburndale, Polk County, Florida.¹ Archie married, 2 October 1917 in Ravenna, Portage County, Ohio, Perla May Vair¹ (born ____, parents not determined).

Archie went to Florida in December 1906. Prior to going to Florida, he worked for Ravenna See house and Nursery, and before that for Uncle Charles Gustin, who had a nursery in Adrian, Michigan. Archie’s wife, Perla, now [in the 1950s] living in Auburndale, Florida, has been very helpful in supplying what information of the Gustin family she had. They had no children.¹

Gazlay History, compiled by Margaret Howe in 1955-1956 (copy available at Gazlay Family History - Sources). Margaret Howe indicated that the document is “based on material my mother Inez L. Gazlay collected, but never lived to edit. Her material has just been copied and explains the more extensive material on generation V and VI. Other information has been added which I found from numerous sources.” Unpublished, 29 pages. Several differences in dates have been found between this document and others, especially A Genealogy of the Leavenworth Family; the latter is considered the more accurate source.
