Church.1 China married, first, ca. 1902, Robert William Chapel1 (born 7 November 1876 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, the son of Harris T. Chapel and Margaret Adamson;2 Robert died 19 June 1947 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut2). Their marriage ended in divorce in before 1914.3 China married, second, 26 May 1917 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, Adolphus Johnson4, 5 (born ca. 1893, parents not determined4).

  1. U.S. Federal Census, 1910, Connecticut, New London County, Montville, Enumeration District 512, Sheet 10B. The census shows that Christina had 3 children with 1 living, but no children are listed with Robert and Christina in this or any subsequent record.
  2. Death Certificate, Connecticut, Montville, Certificate No. 41 (1947), Robert William Chapel. Copy in possession of Shirley (Chapel) Smith. His death certificate lists his father as Horace Chapel whose name from other records is known to be Harris Chapel.
  3. Robert and Christina are presumed to have divorced since later records show each as remarried.
