Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gazlay of South Edmeston held open house Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Eva Reed was born in Stockwell, May 11, 1868. Charles was born Oct. 19, 1865, in the Gazlay homestead, where they now live. They were married in North Pharsalia, Mar. 4, 1891, by Rev. William Southworth. The Gazlay farm is part of the Colonel Edmeston grant, the present house being built in 1829. Before that the parents lived in a log house. They have one daughter, Mrs. Lynn Tuttle, Frankfort, and two granddaughters, Jean, attending school in Buffalo, and Marie, a high school student in Frankfort.

Alice and Fred are buried in Gazlay Cemetery, South Edmeston, Otsego County, New York.8

Jean grew up in Frankfort, New York. In 1944 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Buffalo State Teachers College. She was an art teacher at several high schools, in West Winfield and Aurora, New York. Jean was an accomplished artist and a member of several art associations in New York and later North Carolina.3

Dr. Dutton grew up in West Winfield, New York. In 1949, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York, and in 1952 he received a degree in dentistry from the University of Buffalo. Dr. Dutton served in the Marine Corps during World War II. After his marriage to Jean Tuttle in 1946, Dr. Dutton operated a dental practice in Mohawk, New York. He was a member of many organizations. He enjoyed playing golf and was an accomplished cabinet maker.7
