Elmer Oliver Hannaford2 (Adelaide1), born 21 November 1903 in Winthrop, Suffolk County, Massachusetts;1, 2 died 5 September 1980 in Ledyard, New London County, Connecticut.1 Elmer married, first, 24 November 1926 in Montville, New London County, Connecticut, Mary Elizabeth Nelson (née Clark) 2, 7 (born 22 October 1900 in East Lyme, New London County, Connecticut, the daughter of John Leonard Clark and Elizabeth Chapel;3, 4, 5 Mary died 4 December 1959 in New London, New London County, Connecticut5, 6). Elmer married, second, 2 April 1960 in New London, New London County, Connecticut, Harrietta Mary ‘Harriet’ Nelson (born 13 January 1924 in New London, New London County, Connecticut, the daughter of Roy Nelson and Clarissa ‘Clara’ Clark (born Douglass);8 Harriet died 27 October 1986 in Norwich, New London County, Connecticut8). Elmer is buried in Comstock Cemetery, Montville, New London County, Connecticut.1 Mary is buried in Comstock Cemetery, Montville, New London County, Connecticut.5 Harriet is buried in Comstock Cemetery, Montville, New London County, Connecticut.8

Elmer served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a pay clerk. He is listed twice in the 1930 US Census, once with his first wife Mary and a second time as a crew member on the USS Champlain.2, 9

Harriet worked at American Thermos Company in Norwich, Connecticut.8

Third Generation
3. Dolores Ruth ‘Dee’ Nadeau3 (Elmer,2 Adelaide1), born 8 June 1938 in East Lyme, New London County, Connecticut;1, 2 died 5 April 2012 in New London, New London County, Connecticut.1 Dee married, 17 February 1960 in New London, New London County, Connecticut, Randolph V. ‘Randy’ Fox3 (born 25 May 1934, parents not determined2). Dee was adopted by Elmer Oliver Hannaford and Mary Elizabeth Clark on 8 June 1938.

Family sources indicate that Dolores was born in the Connecticut State Farm for Women (now York Correctional Institution) while her mother Bertha was incarcerated there. Dolores was born with the Nadeau name since Bertha continued to use her married name Nadeau until 1943 when she remarried to Nathan M. Wheeler. Dolores was adopted and raised by her aunt Mary Clark and her husband Elmer Hannaford.
